How do I restrict access to the particular folder or files in cPanel ?

 

 

Linux reseller cPanel comes with directory privacy  in order to restrict the website access for particular folder and files. To protect the particular folder or files via cPanel, you can use the directory privacy option. This interface allows you to protect specific directories in your cPanel account’s files.

Kindly follow the below procedure,

1.Login into cPanel

2.Under Files click on Directory Privacy

3.Select the directory which you want to password protect and then you will see the Set permissions for “/home/username/directory/” screen  will appear.

4.Click on the checkbox “Password protect this directory”

5.Type a name for the folder you are trying to protect in the field  “Enter a name for the protected directory”

6.Click the Save button

7.Then create a user to grant access to the protected directory by typing the credentials of Username, New Password and Confirm Password fields.

8.Click Save in order to save the credentials that you have created

Hence you have set up protection for your website particular folder or file.
